House Rules

While I’m sure everyone has their own house rules of games, here are the ones we play by in Blokus and Blokus Trigon to simplify play and maximize fun.

• Your final score is tallied by adding up the individual squares (for Blokus) or triangles (for Trigon) of your leftover pieces at the end. Lowest score wins. This is a slight simplification of the rules in the printed instructions. We don’t reward a person for playing the “one” piece last or other complex scoring techniques. This makes it much easier to calculate the score.
• You can’t hide your pieces from other players to prevent them from seeing what you’ve got left.
• Play alternates between players in a clockwise fashion, regardless of colors.
• The person who comes in last place in one game gets to play first in the next game, regardless of colors. Also known as the “Loser Award.”
